Kurt and Eileen first crossed paths in 2015 as undergrads at Penn, when they discovered shared interests in global health, anthropology and medicine. They got to know each other through chatting about their summer internships in India, volunteering at a free clinic, and attending the same classes for their major. They eventually became peer review buddies in their thesis seminar course, and their “review” session turned into a 3-hour conversation about life. It wasn’t long before they went on their first date.
The next 5 years were a whirlwind of long-distance dating: A gap year when Eileen was in China and Kurt in Philadelphia, and 4 years of medical school with Eileen in New York and Kurt (still) in Philadelphia. Amidst their studies and the COVID-19 pandemic, their relationship blossomed and Kurt proposed under a tree on Penn’s campus, where everything had started.
In 2021, they moved in together to start medical residency in Philadelphia. They have also welcomed Sephora, an adorable 3-legged rescue cat, into their family. It has been a long time coming, but they are excited to finally become married. They can't wait to celebrate on this special day with all of their favorite people!
